Coerver Coaches
What is so special about Coerver Coaching and why have so many top coaches and players from around the world given it their backing?

It is fun while challenging. It does not have all the answers to football, no-one has; but it does provide coaches and players with a large body of work, which does improve essential skills."

"For example in Japan we have worked steadily over the last four years developing young players the Coerver Coaching way," says Galustian. "So far thirty three players from our various schools have gone to J.League clubs."

"The World Cup in France saw the first Coerver student to make a World Cup team: Boudwien Zendin , who was also featured in our 3 part Video called "The Drill Series", played for Holland. Zendin, who is 19 now, signed for Barcelona, after the World Cup." Galustian adds "Harry Kewell went through The Coerver program in Australia from 11 years old and is perhaps Leeds United's top player now. Another boy from our Australian program Mark Byrnes has become at 16 , the youngest player to be selected for the Australian Under 20 team."

"However, it is the many thousands who improved and enjoyed the sport more through our programmes that I am equally proud of."

Later this year he will be a guest clinician at Real Madrid and AC Milan as well as taking up a long time invitation from Gerard Houllier at Liverpool.
"I believe the ages of seven to fourteen is The Golden Age of Learning : Young players should be exposed to the most expert coaches available. Coaches who are able to improve and motivate players. "Individual Skill improvement is the foundation that all other parts of the game can be built on and that is what the Coerver Program focus's on. My view is that specific tactical teaching is not crucial during this early stage in that young players can learn most tactical situations naturally by playing small sided games."
"This 'Golden Age' is one where developing is more important than winning. Again you need coaches that can accept this.

"There is a pyramid in football. At the top is the professional game and at the bottom is grass roots ( Youth Soccer). The best coaches, the best facilities, the most money and resources go into the top end while comparatively little goes to the bottom end.

If you accept that the 'Golden Age' is important and that players need the best early on, then what was happening was not conducive to producing better players in the future; I think the focus on the Youth Academies in Britain by many of the top professional clubs is a realisation of this."

Asked about the new Coerver Curriculum, Galustian replied " I believe our new Coerver Coaching Pyramid of Player Development is a major step forward for us and for all those involved in improving skills with a focus on how to use these skills effectively in team play.
I am extremely pleased with our new 3 part Video Series " A NEW ERA"; I think it provides a clear picture of what we are trying to achieve and is a platform for us to continue to update and adapt our work in the future"
